Vesta lamps

Scope note

Lamps with an Argand burner in which the central draft is introduced through a slit in the circular wick rather than up a tube, and which has a glass font to keep the heat of the flame away from the highly volatile camphene, which these lamps are designed to burn; the burner employs both solar and button deflectors. Developed by James Young in England.
