Windsor side chairs having a back of medium height, approximating a partially opened fan, with the back spindles crowned by a crest rail curved laterally to follow the outside curve of the seat back and supported at the ends by heavy turned back posts. The form sometimes has an extended back and arms terminating in the back post. Such chairs usually have a back brace. EVANS
