Medallion Ushaks

Scope note

Ushak rugs with an oval medallion in the central field and a composite starlike medallion of 16 points which appears at the sides of the carpet. Both types of medallions are filled with compositions of arabesques and plant ornaments, with finials projecting from the ends or sides. The ground is covered with a pattern of stems, leaves, and flowers. KING
