Ski poles

Scope note

Slender poles or sticks, usually with a point at one end and a handle or loop for the hand at the other end and a disk near the lower end to prevent their sticking in the snow; used when skiing on snow to gain momentum, maintain balance, or execute certain jumps or turns.
