Scope note

African ceremonial swords of the Asante people, having a curved iron blade, broad at the point but gradually tapering towards the hilt which is wooden, sometimes encased in gold and consisting of two spheres at either end of a cylinder, worn or carried by Asante kings and major chiefs or their representatives.
