Wantage rods

Scope note

Use for narrow rectangular wooden rods, varying in length from about 16 1/2 inches to 24 inches, with a small brass projection for positioning the rod in the bung hole of a cask, designed to measure the wantage or shortage of partially filled casks; usually calibrated with tables for casks of various capacities.
