Pots-à-oille

Scope note

The largest type of tureen, said to have been used originally to serve a particular kind of Spanish stew; they are commonly of round body resting on feet or a pedestal, with two handles and a cover, usually made of silver but sometimes of porcelain; most examples date from the 18th century.
