Scope note

Lamellaphones originating in Africa, consisting of tuned metal or split-cane tongues fitted to a wood board or resonator, so that the tongues can vibrate freely at one end; they are played by depressing and releasing the free ends of the tongues with thumbs and forefingers. MARCUS
