Santurs

Scope note

Dulcimers of Turkey, Iraq, Iran, the Caucasus, southeastern Europe, and South Asia, varying regionally but generally consisting of a trapezoidal hardwood box with the metal or nylon strings arranged in courses of three, four, or even five, passing over individual bridges and attached to the side of the box by tuning pegs. They are struck with two sticks.
