Gusles

Scope note

Yugoslavian fiddles with a skin belly and usually a single string, rarely two, of twisted horsehair which the player stops with his fingers from the side with lateral pressure, in the absence of a fingerboard. They are played held between the knees or in the lap, with a curved bow.
