Muscongus Bay sloops

Scope note

Centerboard sloops with mainsail and jib, usually 16 to 26 feet LOA (length overall), developed during the mid-nineteenth century around Muscongus Bay, Maine, for lobstering and fishing off the Maine and Massachusetts coasts; forerunners of Friendship sloops.
