Capricci

Scope note

Scenes of accurately rendered buildings grouped in an arbitrary, imaginary arrangement. Distinct from "vedute ideate," in which scenes are realistically conceived but the elements are completely imaginary. Use especially with reference to 18th-century Italian paintings and prints.
