English Delftware. Money Box in the shape of a Dog. Brislington Pottery, Somerset. It wears a yellow collar inscribed 'ANN WITTIN 1717' in blue. The unglazed base is inscribed in blue, 'Ann Wittin/was born ye 14 of/November 1717 J (?) W'. Buff earthenware, moulded with pierced slot to take money, tin-glazed except for the base, and painted in blue, green, yellow, and red high-temperature (metallic oxide) colours, height, whole, 14.9 cm, dated 1717.
