An image of Inkwell. Bow Porcelain Manufactory, Essex, Stratford-le-Bow. The cylindrical inkwell has flat shoulders, pierced with five holes for pens, and a short, cylindrical neck. The top is inscribed around the shoulders in capital letters in manganese ‘MADE AT NEW CANTON 1750’. The sides are painted in famille-rose style after a Kakiemon original, with bamboo and scrolling prunus branches growing from banded hedge. Soft-paste porcelain painted overglaze in enamels, tin-glazed, height, whole, 5.5 cm, diameter, whole, 9 cm, dated 1750. Famille Rose. Kakiemon.
