Swiss slipware basin, by Andreas Lotscher

An image of Swiss Slipware. Basin. Lötscher, Andreas (Swiss). Production Place: Switzerland, Canton Graubünden, Sant Antönien. Circular, wth shallow curved sides, and at the back, a vertical arched extension. The front of the exterior is decorated with a red flower flanked by leaves, and there is a plant in the middle of the vertical back, and the date 1841 (the second digit obliterated). Red earthenware, the front only coated with white slip and painted in brownish-red, green, and blue under lead-glaze. On the back some slip has run over from the front, but it is otherwise undecorated. Height 16.5 cm, width, whole, 24.5 cm, dated 1841.
