Cup and Saucer/Teacup. New Hall Porcelain Factory, Staffordshire. Bute shape cup with oval ring handle. Circular saucer with curved sides, standing on a footring. The exterior pf the cup is decorated with an Oriental landscape in which are a tree, a group of buildings, a bird perching in a tree branch, and a tiger lying down in front of a rock covered in daisy-like flowers. There is a gold band round the base and rim, inside which is a border of slanting leaves and pairs of berries with a narrow and a wider band above and below. The back of the handle is decorated with five stylized leaves of graduated size. The saucer is decorated with a different version of the design with the tiger lying down on the left below the tree, and with a matching border. Pattern 1214. Bone china, painted underglaze in blue, overglaze in pale apricot and red enamels, and gilded. Circa 1815-1820. Imari style.
