Silver and enamel cigarette box, by Mappin & Webb

An image of Cigarette box. Mappin & Webb Ltd. Rectangular. The sides are engine-turned with a fine mesh pattern, and at each corner have a mount in the shape of a 'malachite' enamelled column, the bases of which serve as feet. The lid is decorated with a similar mesh pattern and has a stepped edge and rectangular 'malachite' thumbpiede at the centre front. The underside of the lid is inscribed. The wooden interior is divided into two by a fixed wooden wall and has another which is moveable. The base of the box is covered in black leather. Silver, seamed, engine turned, enamelled and engraved. Height, to top of lid, 6 cm, width, overall, 18.5 cm, depth, overall, 9.6 cm, 1934-1935. London, England. Art Deco.
