Studio Ceramics. Stoneware bowl with underglaze iron decoration featuring an unusual phoenix motif in a central medallion with foot. Production Place: Thailand. Light grey-green glaze with iron spots, pin-holing, and fine crazing. Five spur marks in the well. Signs of cylindrical kiln support on the base, indicating that this bowl was at the bottom of a stack. 1300-1399. Acquisition: Dr John Shakeshaft Bequest.
