Tea bowl and saucer. Worcester Porcelain Factory. The circular tea bowl and saucer have rounded sides, on low footrings. The tea bowl is painted with Japan pattern of alternate sprays of chrysanthemum and flowering prunus, separated by four vertical orange panels, gilt with trelliswork. The interior has a central chrysanthemum head mons; the saucer is painted en suite, with two insects concealing contemporary flaws. Soft-paste porcelain, painted in red, orange, blue, turquoise and green enamels and gilt, height, tea bowl, 4.8 cm, diameter, tea bowl, 7.5 cm, height, saucer, 3.0 cm, diameter, saucer, 12.5 cm, circa 1770. Production Note: This pattern is also found on Worcester porcelain decorated in London, probably in the atelier of James Giles. See no. C.7 & A-1918.
