Plate. Unknown production, China. Decorated with asters in petal shaped panels at the border, enclosing five similar flower heads amongst a dense whorled pattern at the centre. There are peculiar scroll designs on the back in a very stylised manner. There is an encircled leaf mark on the base. The design was especially popular in the Middle East. Hard-paste porcelain painted in underglaze blue, height 3.8, cm, diameter 27.2 cm, 1600-1699. Kangxi Period (1662-1722).
