Netsuke: katabori. Sleeping Shojo. Hokutei, Edo Period (1603-1868), Japan. Figure of Shojo curled up and sleeping, her head and hands resting on a double gourd flask, the stalk forming the himotoshi. Details of her hair and costume finely incised. Wood, finely carved, incised and stained, height, whole, 2.6 cm, width, whole, 3.9 cm, circa 1800-1868. Edo Period (1615-1868).
