An image of Trial plate. Frankenthal Porcelain Factory, Germany, The Palatinate. Circular with eight slight arcs on the edge, sloping concave rim, shallow curved sides, and flat centre, standing on a footring. Decorated in the centre with a gold crown of TC monogram (Carl Theodore) surrounded by a sunburst with wavy rays. Around this are thirty radiating compartmens outlined in gold, each painted with a spray of flowers. On the sides of the well is an inscription in Latin VARIANTIBVS FLOSCVLIS DIVERSIL COLORES FABRICA SVB REVIVI GENTIS SOLIS HVIVS RADIIS EXVLTANTIS IN FRANKENTAAL. Hard-paste porcelain, moulded, painted in enamels, and gilded, height 3.2 cm, diameter 24.7 cm, circa 1775. Rococo. Notes: Carl Theodore was the Elector Palatine.
