Note

Dawson 1985 (see Documentation) gave the following information: Emil Heuser (see Documentation, 1922) considered that this was a ‘colour trial plate’ (Farbenprobteller), which Simon Feilner, the director of the factory, had painted himself to show the colours that had been developed. He stated that the plate had been sent to the Elector Palatine, Carl Theodore, on 11 August 1775, and as a result he was given the title Hofkammerat, and a salary to go with it. He did not give documentary sources. Dawson read the mark inside the footring as 73 (?)
