  • Text: them intirely, as far as the Design goes, it becomes sub-(underlined) / -lime(underlined) / On Composition(underlined) / The next requisite we look for in landscape, is compositi-(underlined) / on(underlined) - or disposition(underlined), as it is often called. The parts may all be so / far in harmony, as to give a character to the scene; yet / still they may be put together in an unpleasing manner. To / unite them harmoniously is the business of composition(underlined). / On this head we seldom see any exactness in nature(underlined): and / of course we rarely see it in any natural view(underlined). The parts(underlined) of / landscape in nature are inimitably beautiful: but the whole(underlined) / is seldom well put together. Hence arises the great difficul- / ty of painting any view as a portrait(underlined). It is already dispo- / sed to ther. hand; and if the parts are awkwardly disposed, you / can never make a good picture. Indeed if the lines run very false, / you
