Description

Joined linen fragmenst of a bed cover embroidered with red silk in long-armed cross stitch. Fragments of embroidery have been pieced together to form borders with a scalloped edging attached and decorated with tassels.

Note

One of the arcaded, repeat, flower vase patterns is almost identical to a design in a book first published in Venice in 1532. Althought bought in Rhodes in 1902, the embroidery is typically Cypriot.
