Description

Linen curtain embroidered with polychrome (blue, white, green, pink, purple, red and yellow) silks in diagonally worked brick, double running, satin and hem stitch with additional needle weaving.

A vertical row of five large oval shapes runs down the middle of the curtain, each consisting of a conventional central, floral medallion with eight similar smaller ones arranged around it. The lowest of the oval shapes has four floral sprays which make the whole shape appear almost rectanguler. The interspaces between the ovals are filled with floral sprays. At both the top and bottom of the curtain there are borders of floral sprays. In addition above the bottom border there is a band of geometrical satin stitch embroidery.
