Description

Linen sampler embroidered in polychrome silks in cross, Montenegrin cross, double running and satin stitch with speckling. There is a plain selvedge at the top and the other edges are hemmed. The sampler consists of thirteen bands, twelve of horizontal repeating floral border patterns, the wide ones very complex, one of them includes 'boxers'. The bottom band comprises the alphabet and the inscription 'e K 1653'.
