Production: Unidentified
Linen band sampler embroidered with polychrome silks in double running, cross, Montenegrin cross, two-sided Italian cross and satin stitch with some couching and detached buttonhole stitches. There is a plain selvedge at the top and bottom and the sides are hemmed. The sampler is divided into twelve horizontal bands of repeating border patterns, possibly worked from both ends. They are mainly floral but one includes 'boxers' and the other a large pineapple motif. At one end there is an alphabet and the inscription '1661 e P'.
