Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silk in cross and double running stitch. The sampler is initialled " I B" or "E B"and dated 1672 .It comprises 15 horizontal bands all of which contain repeat border patterns; some in addition also contain detached motifs. Band 2 has 'boxers'; 5, keys; 7, two-headed eagles; 8, stags; 9, a cockeral and 10, a squirrel.
