Description

Linen mixed band and spot motif sampler embroidered with linen thread in eyelet, satin, hem and stem stitch with needle weaving and some needle lace filling stitches. Pink and green silk is worked in eyelet, satin, cross and whipped stem stitch. All the edges are hemmed. The top part of the sampler consists of bands of small geometric repeat patterns, beneath this a white work alphabet and the bottom part is taken up by green and pink silk geometric spot motifs, hearts, the initials 'HB' and the date 1728.
