Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks, wool and linen thread in cross, darning, double back, eyelet hole, satin and needle lace filling stitches. The sampler comprises 24 horizontal bands which mainly contain repeat border patterns, an alphabet, E d , the date '1731' and the inscription 'whear I lay/ without th/e church door ma/ny within there/ is room for no mor'.
