Sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross-stitch featuring narrow bands of geometric repeating border patterns, two bands of crown and coronets, three alphabets, numerals 1-15 and five inscriptions.

Sampler of faded yellow linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross-stitch. There is a plain selvedge at the bottom and the other edges are hemmed. A horizontally arranged lettering sampler with narrow bands of geometric repeating border patterns, two bands of crown and coronets, three alphabets, numerals 1-15 and five inscriptions which read 'The Creed', 'BE light and glad in God rejoice Who is Our strength ans stay Be jOYful and lift Up your voice to Jacobs GOd alway 2 PrePare your instruments more meet some joyful Psalm to sing striKe up With harp and lute so sweet on evry Pleasant string 3 IaNe KiNg', 'IaNe KINg was BOrN Thee 7 th daY Of IaNuary in the Year of Our LOrd GOd 1726', 'The Lord's Prayer', 'Made by Jane King in the year of our Lord 1741'.
