Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, Florentine, rice and rococo stitch. The sampler comprises ten horizontal bands which include, The Lord's Prayer, numerals, the date '1743', repeat border patterns, all-over designs, an alphabet, the names 'Iohn Dunnsell' and 'Ann Dunnsell', a basket of flowers, a bird, a flowering plant, two lions, a rose and the inscription 'Mary Dunnsell 1743'.
