Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, satin and tent stitch. The sampler comprises 15 horizontal bands which include alphabets, numerals, a flowering plant in a vase, a geometrical motif, a bird, the name and date 'Elizabeth Keynorth, and the inscription 'When I am dead and gon/ All my bones are rotten/this you see remember/ me when I am quite forg/otten/Elizabeth Keynorth/ work this in the 12 year/of my age 1755'.
