Band sampler, canvas, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, eyelet hole, satin and tent stitch. The sampler comprises ten horizontal bands framed inside a border. The bands contain, alphabets, lettering, numerals, repeat border patterns, detached motifs (including a bunch of grapes, a flower basket, a butterfly, a bird and a potted plant) and the inscription 'ConStraint in all Things makes the Plea/Sure less: Sweet is the Love that Comes/Ts Ms With WillingneSs SS AS/ Mary stoutt/ Her Sampler/ November the 3/in the year 1760/aged 11'.
