Description

Tablet sampler, unbleached linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in chain, cross and satin stitch; the edges are hemstitched. The Ten Commandments, Les Dix Commandements de la loie de Dieu, are spread over two tablets. In the spaces above the tablets there are detached motifs including the sun, the moon and winged angels with trumpets. The spaces inside the tablets are filled with birds, crowns, hearts, sprigs and a border design. Below the tablets, at the bottom of the sampler, a strawberry border and the inscriptuion 'Ienne Gvimon agée 10 ans' is worked.
