Sampler, portion of. Linen ground embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, double back, eyelet hole, Holbein and satin stitch. The sampler comprises 13 horizontal bands; bands 2,4,6,8-11 are repeat border patterns, the others contain the inscription 'When I was young I little thought/ that wit must be so (deaply) bought/ but now experence tells me how if/ I would thrive then I must bowe an/d bend vnto another will that I might/ learn both arte and skill'.
