Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross and eyelet hole stitch. The top of the sampler is taken up by a band with the name 'IANE PARISH' the date of the beginning of the work '4 February'. The bottom has a similar band which contains the same name and the finishing date of the work '14 July 1718'. In between these two bands a large irregular octagonal figure with an inscription inside it, is worked; a border containing letters surrounds it. Attached at the angles of the figure are small squares and octagons, which contain crown or initials. The background is formed of horizontal band of lettering.
