Maker: Woolfrey, Ann
Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, eyelet hole, Rumanian and satin stitch. The sampler comprises 22 horizontal bands which depict alphabets, the name 'Ann Woolfrey', the date ' 1736' and inscription 'Ann Woolfr/ey born the/ 9 of March/ 1721/ when this yov see/ remember me and keep/ me in your mind and be/ not like the weather/ cock that turn att/ every wind rwoaw/ when I am dead and/laid in grave and all/ my bones are rotten/ by this I may remembr/ed be when I shovld be/ forgotten' . Vertical and horizontal linens enclose each section in a rectangle.
