Sampler, coarse linen, embroidered with wool threads in cross and darning stitches. The sampler is formed by two separate pieces of canvas connected by an insertion stitch and a border pattern in darning. The upper section contains alphabets in horizontal bands and a waved stem and bud border pattern. The lower section includes repeat border patterns, flower vases, acorn and sprig design, carnations and the initials 'A CB I'.
