Production: Unidentified
Linen mixed band and spot motif sampler embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, satin, back, eyelet and running stitch. Three of the edges are hemmed and there is a selvedge on the left side. The sampler contains six incomplete alphabets as well as the initials 'FL' and various space filling small motifs are worked across the top of the sampler in horizontal bands. Partial bands or repeat patterns appear on the lower half with detached motifs on three sides of a large star shape flanked by the boldly worked initials 'FL'. The date 1727 and numerals 1-10 are inscribed along the lower left edge.
