Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross and stem stitch. The edges are turned under and buttonholed. Two horizontal bands at the top include an alphabet, numerals and two repeat patterns with the date '1691' immediately beneath. Floral and figurative detached motifs are arranged almost symmetrically either side of larger central motifs which include and Agnus Dei and a wreath enclosing the initials 'DD'.
