Description

Band sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross, four-sided, and hem stitches. The edges are turned under and hemstitched. The sampler is made up of horizontal bands featuring a waved stem, acorn and leaf border pattern, narrow repeat border designs, alphabets, numerals, a wreath with the initials 'A I G' and the date '1826', two winged figures, an angel, a male figure above the initials 'E T', trees, a rainbow, the Temptation of Adam and Eve and an unfinished coat of arms.
