Cotton, school sampler embroidered in white, red and black cotton with a small amount of silver metal thread. The piece includes alphabets, names and numerals.
Cotton, school sampler embroidered in white, red and black cotton with a small amount of silver metal thread in satin, stem, running and eyelet stitch. The edges are trimmed with narrow bobbin lace. This piece includes typical detached motifs, four alphabets, one of which is in Gothic script, numerals, and the name of the maker 'Antonie Rünger', worked in very elaborate lettering. In addition there is an armorial bearing, the name of the school 'Bezirkshule' and an inscription which reads 'Erinnerung an meine Schulzeit'. Scattered across motifs of flower baskets and birds are the names and initials of teachers and pupils with the date of completion '1879' at the bottom.
