Darning sampler, cotton, embroidered with polychrome silks in stem and darning stitch. The centre of the sampler is taken up by a spray of mixed flowers in many patterns of damask darning; the outlines are in stem stitch. Placed in the corners, are differently designed cross-shaped darnings. The sampler also includes the inscription 'Marthe H Aged 13 years'.
