Description

Border sampler, wool, embroidered with polychromes silks in cross-stitch. A carnation border frames the main body of the sampler which comprises the Temptation of Adam and Eve, windmills, flowering trees, birds, angles, the Spies of Canaan, flowers, a house, a ship, a man, a boy, a dog, the sun, moon and stars, a house and garden and the inscription 'Esther Haines aged 11 years 1822'.
