Description

Border sampler, linen, embroidered with polychrome silks in cross and hem stitch. A strawberry border frames the main body of the sampler which comprises eight horizontal bands separated by narrow border designs. The top four bands contain an alphabet a lozenge and a heart. Bands five and six another alphabet and numerals 1-5; band seven has more numerals, two crowns, two hearts a square and a lozenge and band eight comprises the inscription 'WORKd by Eliza Storey Leeds 1799'.
