Black vinyl covered cardboard covers. Each leaf perforated approx. 12 mm in from spine edge to allow removal. There are 79 leaves remaining, including the rear end sheet. The front end sheet and the following leaf have been removed.

Studies of ships, possibly from onboard another ship, studies of forested vistas to distant hills, forest scenes, botanical studies. Two study with girls (one named Joan), three with flying birds, otherwise only plants/geology. Portrraits of Katrine and Sarah. Studies frequently annotated and usually labelled with title and date. Each study across a double page, with a blank double page between each. One study upside down (pages 61-62),
