Description

Cream-coloured earthenware (Queen's ware), transfer-printed and painted in brown and grey enamels. Hemispherical bowl with D-shaped cut out for the spoon, and two upward curving open handles, standing on a circular foot with a slight step near the edge. Circular, slightly convex cover with a raised centre and a convex button knob. Circular stand (B), with shallow curved sides and raised circular rib in the centre, standing on a footring. On the cover (A), 'Agricultural Devices' design no. 53: a roller and whip; no. 50: a spade rake, and pick axe; and no. 49: containers, a bowl, and a tool. On the bowl, design no. 47: a well, bucket, dovecote and jug, and design no. 44: wood, a hammer, and axe.
