History note: Queen Christina of Sweden (d.1689); bequeathed to Cardinal Azzolini, Rome, (d.1689); inherited by his nephew Marchese Pompeo Azzolini; bought from him by Prince Livio Odescalchi; inherited by his nephew, Baldassare Odescalchi, Duke of Bracciano; bought from him by Philippe, Duc d'Orleans, Regent of France, 1721; descended to his great-grandson, Louis Philippe Joseph d'Orleans, (Philippe Egalite), who sold it with rest of the Italian and the French pictures to Viscount Walskiers of Brussels, 1791; bought from him by François Laborde de Méréville, who sold the collection to Mr Bryan, of London (acting for the Duke of Bridgewater, the Earl of Carlisle and Earl Gower)
